More On Swift Boat Ads Against Kerry

This is what motivates the swift boat vets,

What seems to offend the Swifties, as well as other Vietnam veterans, is that after having made his political debut as an anti-Vietnam War activist, Kerry is now playing the hero, pointing to his Vietnam service as the reason he should be president, and campaigning with his "band of brothers." This is hypocrisy of the highest order. As I said on National Review Online back in January,

If he believes his 1971 indictment of his country and his fellow veterans was true, then he couldn't possibly be proud of his Vietnam service. Who can be proud of committing war crimes of the sort that Kerry recounted in his 1971 testimony? But if he is proud of his service today, perhaps it is because he always knew that his indictment in 1971 was a piece of political theater that he, an aspiring politician, exploited merely as a "good issue." If the latter is true, he should apologize to every veteran of that war for slandering them to advance his political fortunes.

As far as press coverage on the issue, I have seen a lot of ad hominem attacks against the swift boat vets, but none addressing the points they are making. For example, the already proven lie that Kerry was in Cambodia on Christmas in 1968. Kerry's team has already admitted to him not being there, despite the fact that he testified before a senate committee saying that he was, and that the memory of that was "seared--seared--in me".

The press will go on and on about how this or that vet is tied to the GOP, which may be true, but still leaves unanswered the arguments these vets are making against Kerry. The arguments they are making need to be addressed regardless of the motives behind them. They have documentation or sworn testimony to prove them, yet the (liberal) press doesn't even investigate the merits of their cases.

This is what John O'Neill, the head of the swift boat vets says ,

"If he[John Kerry] was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve in 1968, he should sue me," said O'Neill. "If, in fact those other five boats on March 13th, 1969, if they all fled like he did instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."

Kerry's campaign has been threatening to sue television stations that broadcast ads by O'Neill's Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. The campaign has also threatened to sue Regnery Books, the company that published "Unfit for Command." The campaign has also filed complaints with the Federal Elections Commission trying to subvert the efforts of the independent swift boats group.

"If he didn't wound himself with a grenade, causing a rice fanny wound, and then reported it to the Navy as a water mine – if he didn't do that on March 13th he should sue me," O'Neill continued. "(The point is) on our first ad he (Kerry) had two huge law firms send letters to every station, threatening to sue the stations themselves (if they ran the ad). "Then he challenged the book's publisher (Regnery) indicating he would sue them if they had continued printing the book."

"You can't tell a whole group of veterans they don't have a right to speak out," said Jerome Corsi, O'Neill's co-author. "The swiftboat vets have earned the right to speak with their blood.

"What's wrong with his answering the charges in the book?"

To be honest, I don't know who is telling the truth here, but I do know that with the swift boat vets already proving one of their points, that Kerry lied about being in Cambodia, with Kerry trying desperately to silence them(I thought liberals hated censorship?), and with Kerry refusing to address their arguments, it sure makes me think the swift boat vets have the facts on their side.

John Kerry is so secretive that he won't even allow his military record to be released. He is trying to silence the swift boat vets and refuses to address their arguments head on. John Kerry needs to come clean! If they are lying, say so, if they are telling the truth, admit it. After all, it was the Kerry campaign that made his four-month Vietnam service the central point of this election.
